Chinese New Year Recipes
Chinese new year celebrates the beginning of the lunar calendar. Based on the Chinese zodiac, each year we celebrate a different animal sign and there are twelve of them in order – Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. For the year of 2022, the symbolic animal is TIGER. Tiger, 老虎 Lǎohǔ, symbolizes strength, powder, courage, and ambition. Chinese New Year Food – Seafood
Fish is a must have dish in Chinese New Year. Fish pronounces “yu” in Mandarin and the same sound also means “surplus or extra”. Eating fish brings good luck and extra fortune to the new year.
Traditionally we serve the fish in whole. Here I keep the new year food simple by using fillets. Tap the photos to take you to the recipes.
