TIPS & Summary

This post shares 7 different types of air fry eggs. For quick reference, jump to the section or jump to the recipe card for detailed instructions.

  • Do experiment with your own cook times. Use this recipe as a reference guide and expect a little trial-and-error until you get a handle on your own cookware.
  • Test with 1 to 2 eggs first before you try a larger batch. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  • Temperatures and times -The following factors affect your cook times and temperatures: egg size (even the same carton of eggs come in different sizes), room temperature eggs vs. chilled from fridge, bakeware material, bakeware size, egg quantities (volume), and air fryer brand/size/model.
  • Preheating: most of the recipes here require you to preheat the basket to 400°F | 204°C for 5 minutes.
  • Other: I have a cosori 5.8 qt. Air fryer. The eggs I use are all large eggs and are refrigerated.

Tools for air frying eggs

In general, you can use any oven-safe bakeware for air fried eggs as long as the bakeware fits inside of the basket. If you use ceramic bakeware, make sure it’s greased with ghee butter. For non-stick, use an avocado oil spray.

  • Wire rack (a trivet) for hard or soft boiled eggs in air fryer
  • Shallow non-stick tray or a small bake pan for air fryer fried eggs
  • Non-stick round cake pan 7”x 3.5” for scrambled eggs in an air fryer and air fryer frittata.
  • Ramekins for air fryer poached eggs
  • Silicone cups for air fryer egg cups (aka egg muffins)
  • Oven mitts

Hard Boiled Eggs In Air Fryer

Air fryer hard boiled eggs is my new favorite method for making eggs because you don’t need to wait to bring the water to boil. Here are my tips and tricks:

  • Quantity: 4 large eggs
  • Preheat air fryer: yes.
  • Temperature: 280°F/ 138°C
  • Cook time: 12 to 13 minutes
  • Tools: use a wire rack (a trivet) to help you stabilize the eggs.
  • Tips: need to soak in cold water (an ice bath) before peeling. Test your air fryer temperature with 1-2 eggs first and do not overcrowd the basket.
  • How to store: According to USDA, hard-boiled eggs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 7 days, either in their shells or peeled. Make sure eggs are refrigerated 2 hours after cooking and don’t cut them open until you are ready to eat.
  • How to serve: I like to eat these air fryer boiled eggs as a healthy snack or add them to Mandarin Orange Chicken Salad, Kale avocado salad, or Asian chopped salad. You can also make air fryer deviled eggs!

Air fryer jammy eggs! 😀

Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs (Jammy Eggs)

Soft boiled eggs (jammy eggs) made in an air fryer are my go-to. Air fryer temperature settings vary according to brand and model. The size of the eggs affects the cooking time as well. Plan to experiment with your cook time and temperature a bit with 1 to 2 eggs first.

  • Quantity: 4 large eggs
  • Preheat air fryer: yes.
  • Temperature: 280°F/ 138°C
  • Cook time: 9 to 10 minutes for soft egg yolk center | 10-11 minutes for medium egg yolk.
  • Tools: use a wire rack (a trivet)
  • Tips: need to soak in cold water (an ice bath) before peeling. Tap and peel carefully as the eggs will be quite soft. Test your air fryer temperature with 1-2 eggs first.
  • How to store: According to BHG, because soft boiled eggs have creamier yolks and more liquid, they have a shorter shelf life. These eggs will last up to two days in the fridge before they expire. Make sure eggs are refrigerated 2 hours after cooking and don’t cut them open until you are ready to eat.
  • How to serve: these air fryer soft boiled eggs are great for snacking or as toppings for tantan noodle ramen, bok choy soup, Japanese cold noodle ramen, or Japanese potato egg salad.

Fried Eggs In Air Fryer

I can see why people love frying eggs in air fryer with less oil, splatter, and easier to clean up! For people who prefer less splatter mess, give this fried eggs in air fryer recipe a try! For different yolk preferences, please see my fried egg in air fryer blog post for detailed information.

  • Quantity: 1 large egg
  • Preheat air fryer: yes.
  • Temperature: 350°F/ 177°C
  • Cook time: 3 to 4 minutes
  • Tools: A shallow non-stick oven-safe tray or a small low-setting bake pan.
  • Tips: Use a silicone spatula to help you release the egg after air fried. If you use a thicker material or higher wall bakeware (i.e. a ceramic cup), your cook time might be longer.
  • How to store: According to FDA.gov, leftover cooked eggs should be refrigerated and used within 3 to 4 days.
  • How to serve: I like to enjoy them in the morning with a dash of coconut aminos and furikake sprinkles or as a topping for Thai Basil Chicken or Thai basil beef!

Scrambled eggs in Air Fryer

It turns out it is possible to make soft, creamy, custardy scrambled eggs in an air fryer! Here I use a cake pan (i.e. higher wall) to slow down the fast cooking time in an air fryer. Make sure you stir the eggs between the time increments and add 1 minute extra until you get a handle on it!

  • Quantity: 3 large eggs
  • Preheat air fryer: yes.
  • Temperature: 300°F/ 149°C.
  • Cook time: 3 minutes – stir – 2 minutes – stir – 1 minute.
  • Tools: A non-stick round cake pan 7”x 3.5”.
  • Tips: 1 minute makes a difference especially air fryer scrambled eggs. Add 1-minute increment until desired creaminess and stir the eggs every time you open the basket. The eggs turn solid too quickly if using a shallow tray pan.
  • How to store: Store the air fryer scrambled eggs in a sealed glass container in the fridge and use within 3-4 days. The texture won’t be as soft.
  • How to serve: Add them to paleo sandwich bread or vegetarian bibimbap with extra protein!

Air Fryer Poached Eggs

Is it possible to poach eggs in an air fryer? It’s like poaching the eggs in a gentle warm water bath. The result? Soft poached egg yolk in the center and perfectly poached egg white. For a detailed article, see my post on the air fryer poached eggs recipe.

  • Quantity: 2 large eggs
  • Preheat air fryer: Yes.
  • Temperature: 360°F | 182 °C
  • Cook time: 6 minutes – check – add 1 to 2 minutes, if needed.
  • Tools: 2 ramekins, a teaspoon, and a small strainer
  • Tips: 1 egg per ramekin with ¼ cup water. After 6 minutes, run a small teaspoon along the inside ring of the cup to help “release” the egg.
  • How to store: Once the air fryer poached eggs are cool, transfer them to a sealable container and top them up with cold water. Use within 3-4 days.
  • How to serve: Add them to my paleo sandwich bread, baby bok choy soup, or roasted cherry tomatoes with delicata squash.

Air Fryer Frittata

This is probably one of my favorite breakfast meal prep dishes – frittata made in an air fryer! What goes into the frittata is totally up to you! I like frozen peas, carrots, breakfast sandwich meat, and shredded mozzarella! Make sure you stir the eggs after the initial 10 minutes and repeat the process until the center is cooked through.

  • Quantity: 8 large eggs
  • Preheat air fryer: yes
  • Temperature: 320 °F| 160°C
  • Cook time: 10 minutes – stir – 10 to 12 minutes. The center should come out non-watery when inserted in a chopstick.
  • Tools: A non-stick round cake pan 7”x 3.5”.
  • Tips: line the cake pan with parchment paper so the eggs won’t stick and are easier to lift out.
  • How to store: Once cool, slice into individual serving quantities. Refrigerate up to 3-4 days. Freeze for up to 2 months. Defrost in the fridge.
  • How to serve: Serve the air fryer frittata with fresh berries and/or yogurt on the side, plus a cup of coffee for a fabulous breakfast/brunch!

Air Fryer Egg Cups

Similar to air fried frittata, these air fryer egg cups make the perfect snack for after school or before workout! I prefer using oven friendly silicone cups for easy removal. Leave a little space at the top when you fill in the egg mixture so they don’t spill over in the fryer.

  • Quantity: 5-6 large eggs
  • Preheat air fryer: No.
  • Temperature: 300°F | 149°C
  • Cook time: 8 minutes – stir – 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Tools: 6 small silicone cups
  • Tips: The eggs won’t stick to silicone cups. If you use ramekin, make sure to grease it first.
  • How to store: Once cool, refrigerate up to 3-4 days. Freeze for up to 2 months. Defrost in the fridge.
  • How to serve: A healthy snack and breakfast on-the-go!

Fried eggs in air fryer (makes 1)

  • Grease the non-stick oven safe tray with avocado oil. Place it in the fryer basket and preheat it for 5 minutes at 400°F (204 °C).
  • Crack an egg to a small cup and slide the egg to the hot tray. Air fry at 350°F (177°C) for 3 minutes. Add 1 more minute for a more solid egg yolk.

Scrambled eggs in air fryer (serve 1-2)

  • Preheat the air fryer at 400°F (204 °C) for 5 minutes.
  • Spray the non-stick cake pan with avocado oil. Pour-in the whisked eggs. Air fry at 300°F (149°C) for 3 minutes, stir the eggs, cook for another 2 minutes, stir the eggs again, and cook for another 1 minute. Keep stirring and adding 1 minute increment until your desired consistency.
