Tip

Types of pan to use

Because the air fryer basket has holes for airflow, we will cook the eggs in a shallow, oven-safe tray or pan that fits in the air fryer basket. Non-stick is ideal for scrambled eggs, and low walls allow for better air circulation for even cooking.

How to cook scrambled eggs in air fryer

Making scrambled eggs in an air fryer is simple and the texture is fluffier than stovetop. Depending on your air fryer and the consistency you want, the total air fryer time is about 7-8 minutes at 300°F (149°C). Be sure to stir them during cooking for the best texture and to prevent overcooking.

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 300°F (149°C).
  2. Whisk the eggs with cream and a touch of salt and pepper.
  3. Air fry the eggs: Spray your non-stick pan with avocado oil. Pour the whisked egg mixture and pop the pan into the preheated air fryer. Air fry at 300°F (149°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Stir once: Open the basket, stir the eggs with a silicone spatula, and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir again: Stir the eggs again and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until they’ve reached your desired consistency. Continue to cook in short increments and stir the eggs until done.
  6. Serve: Transfer the eggs to a serving plate. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

For extra creamy eggs

  • Adding creamer: Whisk the eggs with milk cream for an extra rich and creamy texture.
  • Cook on low heat: This prevents the eggs from overcooking or becoming rubbery.

Different flavors you can try

I kept the seasonings simple for this recipe so they’ll go with anything. But you can easily switch up the flavors with your favorite herbs and spices or by adding cheese and sauces.

  • Cheesy eggs: Stir in shredded cheese or grated parmesan to the eggs.
  • Optional garnish: Sprinkle with fresh herbs like cilantro or chives for a fresh and flavorful touch. Diced tomatoes, bell peppers, or mushrooms make a great topping as well.
  • Optional Serving Ideas: Drizzle with olive oil or add hot sauce for extra flavor.

Umami Tips for Success

  • Cook on low heat: Using a low temperature for eggs keeps them from overcooking. You can control the temperature—and therefore texture—more easily in an air fryer over a stovetop.
  • Watch it closely: Stir the eggs between cooking intervals to control consistency—just 1 minute can make a big difference in the air fryer.
  • Leftovers: Refrigerate leftover eggs in an airtight container within 2 hours of cooking them. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Leftovers are great in fried rice or on a breakfast sandwich!
