Take a piece of wonton wrapper and use a small pairing knife to make two slices so that you’ll have 3 equal width and length wonton strips.
Triangle chips:
Take a piece of wonton wrapper and use a small pairing knife to make one slice from one end of corner to the opposite so that you’ll have two equal sized triangles like tortilla chips.
Twisted chips (bow-tie chips):
Take a piece of wonton wrapper and make one slice in the middle to divide the wrapper into 2 equal strips.
Make a small slit in the center of one piece and take one end to fold underneath through the center slit and gently pull the end out. Carefully straighten the twist so to not break it apart.
Rolled-up chips (cigar-style chips):
This style works best with either air fryer or deep fryer. It does not work well in the oven. Deep fry will have the best texture.
Place a piece of wonton wrapper and with one pointy end toward you. Sprinkle and distribute a small amount of cinnamon brown sugar in the middle area of the wrapper. Loosely roll up the wrapper away from you and seal the tip end with a small amount of water.
Please do not wrap the cigars too tight or the center will not be cooked through.
To season the chips:
Spray the wonton strips with oil on both sides generously. You can also use a brush to help distribute the oil evenly, if needed, and lightly sprinkle salt on both sides.
For savory, sprinkle the chips with a small amount of toasted black and white sesame seeds.
For sweet, sprinkle the cinnamon brown sugar coating on both sides.
To cook the chips:
Air fry: Spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place the wonton chips in the basket with some space between them. Air fryer at 380F for 6 minutes for homemade gluten free wonton wrappers. Or 350°F for 4 to 5 minutes (check and flip after 2 minutes) for store-bought wrappers.
For cigar-style chips: Air fry at 380F for 6 minutes for store bought wrapper (add 2 more for homemade wrappers.)
Bake: Place the wonton chips or strips on a large lined sheet pan with some space between them. Keep them flat. Bake at 425F for 5-7 minutes for homemade gluten-free wonton wraps, or 400F for 5-6 minutes for store-bought wonton wrappers.
To serve:
Immediately after they are out of fryer, while still hot, sprinkle with a touch more salt and sesame seeds (savory version) or dust and toss with more cinnamon brown sugar (sweet version).
The chips will remain crisp even after cooled down and they pair extremely well with my egg roll sauce. Highly recommend it!
To store:
Allow the chips to cool to room temperature. The chips store well in a large airtight container and in a dark and cool cupboard for 2 weeks.

Notes
Store-bought wonton wrappers are thinner than homemade therefore they cook much faster. Watch them carefully when you cook.
You can use either white or yellow colored wonton wrappers. The color will not affect the taste. However, if you prefer a golden brown color, only the yellow colored wonton wrappers will achieve that.
For the rolled-up cigarette version, please do not wrap it too tight otherwise the inside of the roll won’t cooked through. This style does not work well in the oven. I recommend either deep frying or air frying. Deep fry will have the best texture.
This recipe is flexible. You can easily double or reduce the quantity to your liking.
