How to steam bok choy

Steamed bok choy with garlic oyster sauce ready in 5 minutes! Learn how to steam bok choy to tender, crisp, and flavorful easy and fast!

Let’s get started!



Slice the bok choy lengthwise into halves. If using regular-sized bok choy, quarter it. Trim the tip ends if it’s tough.



In a big bowl of water, separate the stalks gently to rinse out the dirt. Set them aside to dry well.



Add the bok choy with its stems facing down and the leafy side facing upwards. Steam bok choy for 5 minutes in a covered pan.

Make sauce


Saute the garlic with a bit of oil and salt. Add the oyster sauce and stir. Pour it all over the bok choy. Drizzle with toasted sesame oil.
