How to make garlic buttered broccoli

ChihYu Smith

Garlic butter broccoli is a simple healthy side dish with perfectly blanched broccoli tossed in a garlicky and buttery lemon butter sauce.

Let’s get started!

Prep the Broccoli

01

Use pre-cut florets to save time. Give them a rinse and let them drain. If you're starting with a whole head, dice and cut into bite sizes after trimming.

Butter sauce for broccoli

02

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, melted butter or ghee, grated garlic, lemon juice, sea salt, and black pepper.

Blanch the Broccoli

03

Bring a big pot of salted water to a boil. Toss in the broccoli florets and blanch for 1.5 to 2 minutes—just until they're bright green and tender but still crisp.

Rinse and combine

04

Rinse it quickly under room temperature water, drain. While the broccoli's still warm, toss with the butter sauce. Garnish and serve warm.
